On the Shore of Lake Michigan

Jets fly by.

Seagulls cry.

At the great stones of the jetty

waves softly lap.

Across the Lake - CHICAGO,

Concrete Towers,

a serrated knife slicing the sky.

HIROSHIMA, NAGASAKI & VIETNAM,

IRAQ & AFGHANISTAN:

Our human skills too often kill.

Eager to "save face"

We do not have the grace

To stand in the other's place.

May our spirit go out in space -

Look back and see this wondrous earth.

Look out and see the moon and stars.

Know the great silence

Before all sound.

In the stillness may we find

The Oneness of all hearts and minds.
